    If you’ve had a yeast infection, you know how uncomfortable it can be. Yeast infections are infections that occur when there is an overgrowth of yeast near your genital area. Mainly, women will know they have one if they are consistently feeling an extreme itching, accompanied with soreness and redness. When you feel like this, there are natural remedies to reduce the problem or cure the yeast infection.

    There are multiple oils within coconut oil that helps with killing off yeast, which helps to get rid of the infection. You can either put the coconut oil on the infected area or you can drink it – it works either way. Here is one way to use coconut oil for the infection.


    1. Take a cotton ball and soak it in coconut oil.
    2. Wipe the infected area gently with the cotton ball.
    3. Wait for 20-30 minutes.
    4. If you feel sticky, wipe the oil dry with a soft cloth.
    5. Do this 2 to 3 times a day.


    Garlic can help with the infection because it contains anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties that can combat infection. It can burn the mucous membrane, which will help to heal the affected area properly. However, garlic can inhibit the effectiveness of certain medications, so be advised when consuming too much garlic. For example, it can lower the effectiveness of birth control pills.

    Grapefruit Seed Extract

    Grapefruit seed extract is actually the most recommended natural remedy for yeast infections. It carries antibiotic and anti-fungal properties that kill the yeast along with other pathogens. When you use this extract, it should be accompanied with a diet that is high in fiber, low starch vegetables, proteins, complex carbohydrates and fruits. If you feel any kind of irritation after cleaning the area, discontinue use and contact a physician.


    1. Add 5-10 drops of grapefruit extract to 2 cups of clean water.
    2. Shake well.
    3. Soak a cotton ball into this water.
    4. Apply the cotton ball to the infected area.
    5. Do this once a day for three days.

    Essential Oils

    Essential oils are also able to help with the infection because they carry strong anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties that protect you from infection. For example, yeast can’t survive in cinnamon oil. Tea tree oil and grape seed oil have properties that can cure an infection. Here is a recipe that incorporates every essential oil that will give you immediate relief from the yeast infection.


    2 tablespoons of grape seed oil

    2-3 drops of tea tree oil

    2-3 drops of cinnamon oil

    2-3 drops of oregano oil

    2-3 drops of peppermint

    2-3 drops of lemon oils


    1. Mix all the oils.
    2. Store in a bottle.
    3. Apply oil on a cotton ball.
    4. Apply soaked cotton ball on infected area.
    5. Keep it there for 3 minutes.
    6. Wipe off with a clean, soft cloth.
    7. Apply this twice a day.
