If you exercise hard and overwork your muscles, you’ll feel it later. No one likes the stiff and sore feeling that comes from muscle pain. To soothe muscle aches, try the following herbal supplements and natural remedies for muscle aches:
Arnica – This medicinal plant is great for treating bruises, sprains, soreness, swelling, and joint pain. It comes in a variety of forms for topical use: tinctures, salves, ointments, gels and oils. Caution: Do not apply arnica to an open wound.
Boswellia – This herb contains anti-inflammatory properties that soothe overworked muscles.
Capsaicin – As stated by motherearthliving.com, this powerful herb hinders pain perception by activating the release of pain-relieving endorphins. Caution: Do not apply capsaicin to an open wound.
Devil’s Claw – The medicinally active roots in this herb ease muscular pain in the back, shoulders, and neck. A normal dosage of Devil’s Claw is 750 mg taken three times a day.
Vitamin C – To help increase blood vessel elasticity and integrity, eat foods high in vitamin C. For example, berries, plums, citrus fruits, bell peppers, and broccoli are all rich in Vitamin C.
White Willow Bark – According to Cathy Wong in the article Herbs for Pain Management, this herb contains aspirin-like compounds that are known to lessen muscle, joint, and back pain.
